    the secondary market

i have been shopping for a tag and put two in my shopping bag at a secondary site. i made a decision on which i wanted and deleted the other. i left it in my bag and ended up buying it cheaper on another site. two days later i got an email from the first site asking me to make an offer. i didn't know this happens and if you are in the market and don't need it right away try it. you have nothing to loose but a little time.

Obviously their tactic didn't work. They lost a customer because they were not straightforward with their lowest possible price.

I've read about this with other items but hadn't heard of it relating to watch sales. Wonder if it works at Creation or Sky?

    Re: the secondary market

Sometimes, the best way to buy something on the secondary market (at least from a brick-and-mortar store that has a web presence) is to put down the mouse, pick up the phone, and talk to the people. These are sales people, and they are accustomed to direct interaction.

We can complain about how they mishandle their internet sales, or we can work within their limitations and get the best possible price. It sorta depends on your goal.

    Re: the secondary market

Gemnation did this with me. I had 7750 based chronograph in my cart, left it for two days. they sent me an invitation to offer a price. I ended up buying a Pan Europ from Ashford instead. I thanked them for their email and told them the same information. Gemnation looks to be a site that want your business.

    Re: the secondary market

Hmm, that’s good info indeed. I always make sure I empty my shopping cart when I change my mind, fearing I could accidentally buy it somehow later on. However, I'll have to keep this in mind, thanks.
