    Seeking a recommendation

    Hi all,

Looking for a recommendation for a watch for my mom. She wants:

    Digital display
    Solar powered
    Automatic time updates

I've looked through Casio, Citizen and Seiko, and the best I can find is a Casio GMW B5000D. It's not a female watch, but it's not as masculine looking as the rest.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Have you looked at the Baby-G line of G shocks? They are smaller in size and marketed to women. Can you confirm what you mean by "automatic time updates?"

I checked the baby G line first. They didn't have all the features.

The automatic time updates is where it updates the time based on the radio signals from the 5 or so sites around the globe. Casio calls it "atomic timemekeeping".

can you extrapolate on this a bit? the Casio G-Shock square is pretty iconic.
additionally, those radio towers (while not anytime soon) aren't going to be up forever.

could you give some examples of the more "masculine" watches you were looking at? just "citizen and seiko" isn't descriptive enough

    Re: Seeking a recommendation

Well the GMW I referred to is part of the male line of watches. She likes my PRW-3500 (Casio Pro Trek line), but I was hoping to find something a bit more feminine.

Additionally, the female Citizen watches seem pretty limited on the functionality.

Got my girl (5ft 5, not petite but by no means even 'thick') a gmw b5000 and she loves it. If your mom is good with big watches, get her the 'glacier gold' version for like $200. Little more feminine than the full metal square.

The Glacier gold looks nice, but $200? The "standard" one i saw on amazon was $500. Am I looking in the wrong places?

Square Casio G-Shock. Slim profile solar/atomic. plenty of models. Some fun colors.
Not much in non G-Shock line. Trick is to place it by the window at night. Than you get time updated.
    It should be special!
