    Seiko 007 vs. Black Monster

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking for opinions on the best of these two watches, which I have narrowed down to after weeks of searching. I'm completely stuck on the decision. I have moderately small wrists and I'm looking for a good first rugged watch and I like these Seikos a lot.

    I'd take the 007.

This is a totally biased opinion - get a MONSTER!!! I have 6 5/8" wrists and it's the only watch over 40 mm I own. The offset crown keeps it from digging in to my wrist.

    Love it!

Now that's a hard decision to make for you, cause they are both super watches..We can tell you what we like, but you have to make the choice.I would just flip a coin.I would buy both if you can afford it.

+1 for the Monster. Very unique looking. You either love the look ... or not so much. I've had a few monsters. Great watches. Latest is a modded monster from Yobokies that I just can't seem to get off my wrist...

The Monster is nice, but really - if you have small wrists do you want to look like you've strapped an alarm clock to them?

I don't know if I'd call either "rugged" in the modern sense of the world. They're ISO diver spec mechs, which means a fall off a desk will most likely fubar the accuracy past all recognition. (The spec is that the watch will run after a 1m fall on to a wooden floor but the accuracy will be permanently down to a minute per day.) Most $25 quartz watches are tougher than this, and a dedicated tough model (a GShock or Ironman from about $50) will take a 10m fall without any loss of accuracy.

That's not to say that you shouldn't buy one of these wonderful, excellent value, watches. Just don't mistake them for what they're not.

I'd recommend PMing Yobokies and looking at the modded Seikos he sells - Monsters, 007s, and some amazing looking Seiko 5's.

Between those 2, I'd get the 007. I have the Orange Monster and I think it looks cool, but I just don't think the black dial works on this design. JMHO.
