Selling my Omega Planet Ocean dilemma

I got a 2010 Planet Ocean (45mm) but don't wear it much and I'm soon to be picking up a Rolex SubC.

I don't see the reason to keep 2 dive watches in my collection. But I'm a little hesitant as the PO has been a great watch. Do you think the PO will be future classic and appreciate in value?

If its just the normal PO XL, not a LE or in the past owned by a famous owner, I find it hard to believe that it will appreciate significantly or at all. Watches are, overall, pretty poor investments.

It already has appreciated depending on whether you bought it new or not. I bought mine (same watch, orange numerals) gently used on here for $1,500 about 5 years ago, and now they're all going for around $2,800.

The PO is one of my favorite watches ever, and a very nice complement to the SubC IMO. I've owned both at the same time and still wore both, but that depends on what other watches you have. The SubC is very "shiny" and the PO maintains more of the "tool diver" feel. If it were me I'd keep it.

How many watches do you have? I would have no problem owning and wearing both if my collection was made up of 10 or more unique watches, but a rotation consisting of just a PO and a Sub wouldn't create enough variety for me.

And on another note, if my collection was made of 10+ unique watches, I don't think I would even wear a Sub - it plays the role of "all rounder" well, but it's not particularly dressy when compared with most dress watches, and not particularly sporty when compared to most sport watches, including the Planet Ocean.

Sure it will appreciate - but when you factor in occasional service (which it's closing in on) and what you could be doing with the money it is not a good investment. If you don't wear it much get something you will. Or invest it.

May not appreciate, but keep both if you can. I own both a po and a expii love switching it up. The arrow hands and the double ar coating on the po amaze me.

I love my PO and have to believe it will become a cult classic Omega like the 2254. The caveat to this is that IMO there is more of a chance of this happening to the 42mm version. I would flip your XL PO and enjoy that perfectly sized SubC.

Your PO is a POS and has no chance of appreciating in value. I advise you to send it to me so I can dispose of it properly for you. ;)
