anybody sending watch as gift before? what type of packaging will be suitable? Normal courier envelope or box?

Like fedex, they are not allowed me to send using envelope if the value is more than USD100.

What? Pack it safely and securely -- wrap the watch in bubble wrap and put it in the watch box. Wrap the watch box in bubble wrap and put it in another box. Place that box inside a larger box that is filled with packing peanuts.

DO NOT EVER SEND A WATCH IN AN ENVELOPE.

How would you want to get one?
If the watch has a box, wrap the watch first in bubble wrap, put the watch in its box, then in shipping box with packing materials around it.
If no watch box wrap the watch in 3 or 4 layers bubble wrap then a small box with packing materials around the watch.

Geez...even the $14.99 HMT (including shipping) I ordered from India came wrapped in bubble wrap inside a Tupperware container.

In a box. And you can never use too much bubble wrap.

Thank you. Watches go in secure boxes protected from water.

If you can wrap the watch in bubble wrap do so then wrap the watch box in bubble wrap. The more layers of wrap the better. Of course, if you’ve no watch box then the watch will need lots more layers of bubble wrap. They need it as some of the parcels I’ve received have been pretty beaten up on the outside.

It should now be obvious that packing correctly and securely is an important part of buying or selling any watch, IMHO.

Sad thing is that this isn't self evident. I have received watches in a Manila envelope with no packaging- and it was partly torn open. box with no padding at all.

But mostly I have received well packed and even the most wonderfully packed as I would do. Watch in box, box in zip lock bag, wrapped in bubble wrap then box stuffed with peanuts. Then every seam completely taped.
