Sentimental value, on a pre-owned watch?

We all know how watches can sometimes hold alot of sentimental value to us, as it sees us through the many moments in life. But does a pre-owned watch give you "less" sentimental value (knowing that someone else had it before you) even after it's been with you for a while?

When it becomes my watch, it will always give "value" to me.....

sentiment has to do with events

it doesn't matter if a watch is new or used, if you wear a watch while something significant happens you'll still associate it with that watch

It’s what you and the watch have experienced together that give it sentimental value and not whether it was new or pre-owned.

Unless the watch has become 'possessed', pretty sure all the prior 'sentimental value' has evaporated

I have a watch I bought used, which is engraved to someone else. Love it. It's like Value Added Sentimentality.
Watches are life. Live to Watch, Watch to Live. Do you even Watch, bro?

Wow, I don't think I could live with that, but that's really interesting to hear and glad you love it!

Re: Sentimental value, on a pre-owned watch?

Yes. Sentiment is gained through time and/or experience. As long as you spend time wearing the watch it can become sentimental. A new, expensive watch that is never worn has less of a chance of becoming sentimental than a used, inexpensive watch that is worn, cared for and was on your wrist when certain things happened.
