... Watch! I ain't talking ham here, either.
You know... those sandwich dials.
When I first saw pix of sandwich dials, I really thought they were kinda ugly and didn't want any part of them. In fact, the more I saw pix of them on the WRUW Threads, the more I started dis-liking them. I love Panerai's and saw pix of those sandwiches, but just couldn't see it. I thought they would cast a weird shadow, etc.
Then along came an inexpensive Vratislavia based on a classic firearm, which I am also into and collect. Because of the connection and the price, plus I liked the looks of it... I decided to give it a try. From the minute I opened it... I started diggin it! It just adds so much more depth to the dial. And you know what? It throws a pretty cool shadow too (even adding more depth!).
So, without shelling out the dough for a PAM, I ran across the Terra Cielo Mare in a late night Ambien search (I've definitaly had worse Ambien experiences!) and knew I had to have one. Especially after picking up an Orienteering model, a few weeks earlier (made "famous" by Brad Pitt in World War Z). I love the TCM brand and am loving my sandwiches. Not talking the eating kind either... but I love those too (it doesn't get much better than a ham on rye, sorry, I digress!).
Here's the two I currently own. The Vratislavia, the one that started it all..:
... and the TCM
Who knows, hopefully another Panny will be in my future... of the sandwich flavor (yuk, yuk). I guess it's just one of those things you have to see in person, for me anyway.
I think I finally get it!
Ok, post up those sandwiches, please (and you know what I mean - I know this bunch).
