    Sinn 556i Intermittently Stopping

My less than 6 month old Sinn has been intermittently stopping for the last few hours. When I shake the watch it starts again but it seems like the power reserve is severely limited. My first thought is that the spring has just been wound down but I wear this watch for 12+ hours a day every day.

Is there something that I can do to troubleshoot this problem or should I take it to a watchmaker?

EDIT: the watch stops in 3 minutes after being fully wound through the crown.

Don't shake, wind using stem like it's supposed to be.

How many winds until it is completely wound?

Also when I say "shaking" I mean gently swinging it back and forth rather than actually exerting force.

Did you buy it new (with warranty?)

Give it a full wind - say 40 to 50 turns of the crown. Note the time and set it down. Come back to it in a day or so and see how long it took to stop.
You'll then have an idea whether the issue is the power reserve or the self-winding mechanism. Either way, if it's under warranty I wouldn't hesitate in sending it back for repair as something isn't right.

It has already stopped just 3 minutes after being fully wound

Yeah, your watch is broke. Send it in for warranty service.

Sorry to tell you this, but a professor of mine has the 'a' version of the watch. He said his was stopping a lot too and had it sent in to Sinn 3 times. He works in the clinic, so he walks around a lot and uses a lot of arm movements (as a dentist), so I think it was wound sufficiently. He said it's getting to the point where he might retire it soon.

get it fixed under warranty, hopefully. If it fails again go to another watchmaker and have him look at it. might be something simple. Good looking watch, but I like simple lines
