Confused slightly cracked sapphire, should i worry or pay for replacement glass?

i have gshock gwn-q1000 quad sensor gulfmaster. the other day i bumped the glass on a door knob. a few days later it loked like a scratch but i noticed something in the glass. it doesn't have a feeling like a surface scratch but then again its super small so i might not be able to really feel it. you can really only notice it at the right angle in the light. i do go free diving with it and surf with it. should i pay to have the glass replaced or am i worrying about nothing? seems like an insignificant crack to me cause its super hard to see.

Especially if you expose it to water, you should try to replace as soon as possible. Whenever a visible crack exists in glass, the material will be loaded with points from which further damage can begin to propagate (right at the sharp point of the crack in particular there exists a large stress intensifier). Exposing to stresses like hydrostatic pressure or thermal changes will likely cause the crystal to totally fail, leaving aside the risk of there being a large enough pathway to directly allow water through.
In addition, little shards of the crystal could get into the mechanism.

That's a cool watch. Yes, you need to replace the glass if you are taking this surfing. And make sure it is pressure tested. These are over $500, so it's worth it to have that work done.

Sapphire hardly ever cracks, when it fails it SHATTERS. So you're pretty lucky there. I'd replace it asap and not wear it until then.

I didn't think Gshocks used sapphire crystals. I thought they were either mineral glass or plastic/acrylic.

AFAIK the nicer ones do have sapphire, could be this one is mineral glass. Still, I'd get it replaced.

I'd have it replaced. It's a weak point and another minor bump could cause it to shatter.

Think of it like a stone chip on your windshield. Once you have one even a relatively small temperature change or going over a bump in the road can cause it to run all the way across your windshield .
