Smiths vintage Sport Watch EB8800 movement problem

Hi Guys Your thoughts please. I have a nice large Smiths sports watch circa 1970s with a EB8800 movement. It worked fine and suddenly made a kind of squeeking noise when I tried to wind it up.Now when I try and wind it if I let go of the crown it spins round until the tension has gone from the spring. Whats gone wrong here? Am I able to fix it. Thanks

You should have a watchmaker look at your watch and probably repair one of the things mentioned by pithy.
