So... I just got back from my Panerai Boutique... VIDEO (Page 4)

If you remember my thread, I'm searching for a Panerai. Many of you suggested that I go and try them on - and I'm so glad you did! I've cleared A LOT up, and am posting here for further input.

So, I discovered, that I have to have a 47mm case. I tried on every size (except for the tiny due line), and I really like the look and feel of the 47mm - whether it was the submersible or the Luminor. I was really shocked that the submersible fit me so well - as I was thinking before I saw it that it would look horrendous on me. I was totally wrong.

So based on the two watches I tried, I've technically got 3 options:

    1. Pam 422
    2. Pam 423
    3. Submersible 1305

Now, none of those 3 watches meet my "ideal" criteria. I really wanted Green lume, 300m water resistance, sandwich dial and an exhibition case. (In order of priority). I'm willing to sacrifice a few of those. I talked to the guy about the sandwich dials having brighter lume, and he said that is a myth. He said that people think it is a big plate on the sandwich dials when it is just a cut out that is filled in.

What I really liked about the 422 and 423 was the case and domed crystal. It looked amazing in person.

Any input about other models similar to this would be really appreciated!

    Anyways, here are the pictures!!!

Whoa that escalated (to 47mm) quickly...

Sadly I’m not aware of any 47mm non submersible models with higher than 100m WR

While I don’t have 422/423,I have plexi 372 and the other 47mms from the same year

Both of these are older fiddy 1950 case which is different than the case of 372/422/423

This photo probably can show the difference between 368 and 372 a bit better

I’m not a big fan of submersible models in general but the main trade off will be high wr vs sandwich dial

Just to mess around, there’s a 300m submersible with 8 days movement and sandwich dial,no display back though....

60mm diameter might be a bit impractical for daily use though....

I'm not exactly a deep sea diver or anything - but I would like the peace of mind if I do ever decide to get into the water with it. I read somewhere that "100m" translates to "You're safe to go snorkeling"

And I'd assume if something were to happen - I can't exactly prove I was under 100m?

    Haha, 60mm, I'll take it!

If the 422 had the green lume, I'd be entirely sold. That is the only thing making me hesitate and lean partially towards the submersible. But the case of the 422 in person is really stunning when compared to the others. Mainly by the sapphire crystal.

Edit: I guess I could always rock a cool rustic looking darker green strap!

    47mm,sandwich dial,green lume....

I can only think about 368,127,217,203 and 267

368 is the most affordable of the lot...127 and 217 are a step up in price,203 and 267 are giant leap in price

Thanks for shortlisting all the models! I really think I can accept a non-green lume with a green strap as an option. I def want a brand new watch. Green isn't my favorite color but I just like the look on the Panerais. Also, is the other lume color the same brightness? I think I'm really leaning towards the 422. Unfortunately, it is more than I was anticipating, so I'm going to have to go without haircuts for a while!

One question I do have is that do the boutiques offer deals off their list price? I saw some posts about "I got a great deal" - but I'm not sure if that only applies to an AD?

Someone say green? I picked up a Python strap cuz I thought it brought out the green lume...

I'd have to go with any of the full polished cases... they look really sharp!

(Just saw Bill Gates wearing a Luminor!)
