So I just graduated Ranger School...

As the title says, I have just graduated Ranger School and as a way to commemorate this event, I want to get a watch that somewhat speaks for this achievement.
I want to spend under $1000 and looking for a military/ sporty watch. I have been looking at the Glycine Combat Subs which seem to have that modern military feel in a Sub watch which I like.
I have also been considering buying the Stienhart OVM. I know that it is a homage but just the look and feel is kinda want I am going for. I have looked into Marathon watches but I feel as they
cost a lot of money for what you get, but there is a lot of history with the company and the military.

I am really open to any other suggestions. What are some brands/ watches would you think are a great way to commemorate graduating Ranger school?

    Thanks!

I don't know what the drill is these days, but back in my day every self respecting Ranger had a Randall knife, sapphire ring, and a........wait for it......Rolex. My first watch as a serviceman was a Rolex Submariner date. I didn't receive my hazardous duty pay $110 / month for a year, when I got the retro- check for $1300 it all went into a Rolex sub. But that was 1984, I think hazardous duty pay is now $150 / month, and a Rolex sub is $8K, what is wrong with that picture!!! I personally think that anyone who graduates Ranger school, and is assigned to a Ranger battalion should get a DEEP discount on a Rolex Submariner!!

Rolex aside, I personally like the MKII watches, they are good quality, and from a design standpoint are military homage watches. On the used market can be had for that $1000 - $1500 range. I also like OWC milsubs, they look pretty bulletproof!!

Whatever you choose, congrats for graduating Ranger School!! Any watch you choose to commemorate this milestone will be memorable!

I know it's outside the budget and somewhat obvious, but what about a Tudor Ranger re-edition - it has a connection with Rolex too, so ties in nicely with the story from @horrij1 above.

Whatever you buy to celebrate getting your tab it will probably not be what you use when training or deployed unless it is a G-Shock or something similar. Like horrji I had a Rolex and Randall back in 1984 when stationed at Fort Bragg but I found a Casio to be more practical when training or deployed. My suggestion for something non-digital and non-plastic that resembles a Rolex Submariner and is under a $1000 is something from the Certina DS series.

I have found that some people just like to hear themselves typing.

Friends don't let friends buy G-Schlocks.

Congratulations on picking up your tab. A big milestone indeed.

I've been through quite a bit in my life but Ranger School is still the hardest thing I've ever done.

A big congrats and thank you for your service!

As far as autos I have rolex sub, omega seamaster, tag aquaracer, a Steinhart vintage ocean. as far as quartz I have a seamaster, a few tsars, a jsar, a couple of scurfas, and some g shocks. used to have a couple tag f1 quartz. I really, really like the quartz marathons. they take a beating and live forever. also they are tanks. i normally go with them over my more expensive stuff because they have that tool watch feel and being quartz they are just low maintenance and i don't have to worry about hurting the movement if i hit them against something and don't need expensive movement services. the only thing i like as much as the marathon quartz for durability is the older seamaster quartz. they have awesome lume, but don't have that tool watch feel that the marathons do.
