    Speculative "Breitling Group"

That the watch industry is dominated by mega watchmaking conglomerates (or "groups") is a well-known point of discussion. Indeed, groups such as Swatch, LVMH, Richemont, Kering, and Movado control many of the most coveted brands at any and all price ranges. So where does that leave independents? What if some of the last bastions of independent watchmaking were to be absorbed into a new group? The oft-discussed selling of Breitling to a private equity firm has me speculating about various "group" configurations if it were to be sold off again. Here's one example. Any other thoughts?

    The Breitling Group

    Bovet - "halo" brand
Eberhard & Co. - luxury brand (mainly Euro market)
    Breitling - mass-market luxury brand
    Oris - mid-level brand
Edox - mid-level sports brand (mainly Euro market)
Claude Bernard by Edox - entry-level brand

I don't have any inside information, but from what I have read about Oris, they value their independence. They went down that road before and it almost killed the brand. Other than that, I like the independents. Breitling makes some cool stuff and they have various price points themselves.

If I had endless money, I would buy Patek and Breitling. (The companies)

I hope your 'group' never happens. I would hate to see Oris packed in with that bunch.

"Eberhard & Co. - luxury brand (mainly Euro market)". That is a bit of a jump.

I hope it never happens. Oris should always remain independent

I don’t see that it matters greatly since I can’t see the Swatch Group using Tissot floor pans to build Breitlings.

Currently, I think you're right. Eberhard really doesn't have the respect it once had. But I also think that they have the potential to be rebranded if it were to be placed into a stratified group.
