    Sporty everyday wearer around $1000

Pretty much what the subject says. Right now I have all really affordable watches. I'm looking to kick it up a notch and get my first decent priced watch.
I will be wearing it almost everyday for every occasion. It has to look good on steel, rubber, and leather. Quartz or auto. And like the title says, it has to be sporty looking. Nothing too formal. I really don't have any in mind so show me everything you can! Thank you in advance.

Was going to say oris as well. I think the TT1 would look good on just about any strap.

Oris is great...in the same scenario I would get either one of these two babies:

Left (Big crown Altelier Chrono $1,100-1,300 brand new online)

Right (Big Crown Chrono $900-$1,100 brand new online)

A Rolex Submariner-like dive watch would fit the bill; if you don't mind the homage look then Christopher Ward makes some nice divers - this is £415:

Damasko all the way! you can get a second hand one of these for <$1000. New they're around $1125. Ice hardened case 4 times harder than standard steel, German engineering, unparalleled readability. Fantastic watch.

I was going to suggest a Tag Heuer Forumula 1, but they are pretty expensive as far as quartz watches go. Not sure they're worth it.

Hamilton also has some great sporty watches for about a grand. I'd check them out.
