Inspired by SOTC posts by other forums members, I wanted to share my WIS journey this year so far.
Here's where I started 2018, SOTC as of January 2018 -
Then things got out of control. In February I got a Rolex Skydweller white dial. Amazing watch and well-executed complication. However, after wearing it for a few extended trips, it felt too big and heavy on the wrist. So I traded it for an AP RO 15300. The RO has been on my shortlist for a long time, and the size of the 15300 is just perfect for me. Then another piece on my list showed up - a JLC reverso duoface ultra thin. Of course I had to jump on the opportunity. Then came the FP Journe Bleu, which I have been on the list for a few months. I realized I have too many watches and decided to sell the Grand Seiko that I rarely wear anymore.
Here was the SOTC as of May 2018:
I though I'd be happy with my collection after the few changes. Again I was proven wrong and here come my two grail watches - Lange 1 Daymatic blue dial and Patek 5167. To get the situation under control (from the better half ), I sold the Moser Pioneer and the SubND. The sale of the Moser was a natural decision for me as I don't think I need three blue dials in my collection. For the SubND though, it was hard decision, but at the end of the day, i decided that I didn't need a shiny diver when I already have the RO and 5167. Also that was a quick sale thanks to the current Rolex SS shortage.
The Reverso was sold not long after, simply because I had so many incomings and it didn't get the wrist time it deserved.
Then two weeks ago I had a somewhat surprising incoming. One thing I really missed from the Sub was the rotating bezel, also I felt that I still need a diver in my collection. So I picked up a Tudor LHD! I really like the titanium case and the rubber strap, and the tool-feeling matt finish.
So here's the SOTC as of today (8/20/2018) -
So what's next??
The Lange, Journe and PP are the keepers for sure. Just listed the PAM 233 for sale. The Omega, being my first nice watch, has been listed and delisted a few times, but I think I'm going to keep it.
The RO - I'm wearing it less and less often now so not sure about it. It's a nice watch and the bracelet is a piece of art, but I just feel it's a little bit too shiny to my liking now.
In terms of the next watch, there's only one sure incoming - the Konstantin Chaykin Joker! I was lucky enough to secure one before SIHH 2018 but have to wait until 2019 to get one.
I wanted to thank WUS for providing such a wonderful place for us to talk about watches, and all the advices from the members (read: enablers). I'd love to hear your suggestion on what would you add/drop to my collections.
