    Steinhart Blue Red vs SKX009

    Hi.

I'm torn between the 2. Thoughts?

I'm looking to pick up a beater, wish I could afford a Pepsi GMT but can't, and currently rotate between a White Exp II and a G Shock Rangeman. I'm looking to pick something up that kinda falls between my two.

    Fire away.

Don't own any Steinharts but I'd consider them, looks wise only...as a stock watch...not a beater. The SKXs I've had are just as good of a watch but to me feel and look more rugged. You can also make many modifications to suits your tastes to a 007 as well.

    Of the two,the Seiko..
If I only have exp II and Gshock,I may pick a tuna,it's a diver,it is tough and it is still quite affordable

Both are good watches. Seiko is more mainstream and might be easier to service if needed, but the Steinhart's are built like tanks, so either choice will be a good one.

Re: Steinhart Blue Red vs SKX009

Here's how it breaks down for me....

Steinhart is too close to the real thing for me. I've had 2 occasions where I tried that and it just felt like I should have waited and I ended up not enjoying the watch. I think the Seiko is more toolish and original but I don't care for the hands (my personal opinion). So can I suggest a third alternative? The Orient Pepsi Mako. Got one for my dad a few years ago. He loves it and wears it 24x7 with no problems.

Not entirely sure what I'm collecting anymore....

I'll pick Seiko. My reason is simply I can't justify paying that much for a homage. My homage allowance is $180usd under.

Thank you for the third option. I'll look into it.

I think the SKX009 is a great watch, but there is also the Seiko SKA369 Kinetic pepsi-bezeled diver with a little more modern look, (rotor swings and charges a 10year + battery)
