    Story behind Gevril Tribeca “re-issue”?

    Hi guys,

A set of limited edition Gevril Tribeca were offered for sale last week online.
Does any of you has some context around this “re-issue”?
The website selling it mention using un sold inventory.
This watch was first sold a long time ago.

    Best!

I was going to start a new post but just realized someone started one already.

I am not sure what’s the story behind it but I’m sure there’s more to it than what’s being advertised.
I bought mine with the expectation of a new old stock. Turns out it arrives but the watch has scratch marks over the case and a chrono hand is missing on the sub dial. This isn’t what I have in mind for definition of NOS. The advertisement said the case should be polished but it’s not. I suspect my watch is a pre-owned piece all along.

I’ve emailed Revolution for clarification and Govberg contacted me saying they are happy to service it. I’m satisfied with their prompt responses.

However, let just say I’m not too pleased with this whole purchasing experience.

Here are the pictures as evidence. The right subdial is missing the chrono hand, the caseback, clasp and side of case are scratched and the watch case isn’t polished like how it was advertised.

The watch simply shouldn’t be advertised and sold as NOS.

Most of these I believe were sold by Bernardwatch, I used to sell the zombie line after that, 2003 to about 2005 or 6.

Zombie is a name taken from the 'public domain', hardly new, last I heard, Gevril was owned by Samuel Friedmann, met him in December, 2002.

    Thanks for the clarification.

I’m genuinely interested to find out how others are enjoying their purchase on this piece.

The 67 pieces were all gone within first 72 hours so there must be certain level of hype over this item. I just wonder whether others are getting the watch that matches their expectation.

Re: Story behind Gevril Tribeca “re-issue”?

Here's what I found after doing some research.

I think the watches were bought from Gevril by one of Danny Govberg's companies.
Danny Govberg is a former shareholder of Gevril, as mentioned in the Revolution article (https://www.revolution.watch/need-a-...t-you-covered/).
I think that Danny Govberg manages two websites/companies through which he could have offered the NOS Tribeca for sale (https://www.thewatchbox.com and https://www.govbergwatches.com).
The watches were shipped from Philadelphia so they were in one of those two companies' inventory.

Almost $3k for a watch assembled from parts some of which show wear. A hand is missing and no information about whether the chrono movement has been serviced. Must be more to the story.
