In this case, second hand seems attractive; but remember the old adage, you buy the seller. Is it from an AD? A private buyer? Are you even sure it is genuine? Not stolen?
If it all checks out, the saving is worthwhile.
With Rolex, for the difference, I might be tempted to buy new. But if you can inspect the preowned watch and are satisfied with its condition, by all means, save the $.
Satisfied used buyer here. As others mentioned, buy the seller. Mine has been inspected by on site watchmakers at an AD that has been around since 1920.
If you plan to keep it a long time, I'd buy new. I've seen DavidSW selling them for less than a grand above a used example.
Seems worth it.
