Suggest to me a good movement (Manual or automatic) for around the $200/250 mark..

    As tittle says :)
Been looking for a few movements to play around with for a while now, I am a qualified Horologist (recently) so am just looking for a good quality movement to play about with.
At the minute, i'm thinking of a movement with seconds & maybe date, but i am open to suggestions :)
Would like the movement to look good too, blued screws etc :)
Pics would be good too :)

    Thanks, Al

Other than used I don't think you'll find much decoration at this price.

I'd look at the Orient Blue Ray - very inexpensive, simple and accurate.

If movement matters the more than looks, try taking a look at Aristo and Uhr. Both brands offer ETA movements under $300.

If you want it to be pretty, grab an old Unitas. Otherwise I'd start with a 6R15 or 2824. Very common movements and reliable.
