Suggestions for a nice ladies watch for my wife

Hi all. I'd like to get my wife a nice watch, as she currently just has an inexpensive Tissot that I'd like to upgrade for her. I was thinking of something in the $2k to $4k range. Some day I'd like to get her a serious high end watch, but that will have to come down the road.

Would something like an Omega or Cartier be the best bet? Maybe a Rolex? This would be for her to wear daily. I'm most interested in the actual quality and style of the watch rather than necessarily the "brand", as she won't care about that as much. I have a long list of watches that I'd like to get for myself, but I'm really just not that familiar with decent ladies watches.

Lastly, I've noticed from a bit of quick searching that many ladies watches seem to be quartz--even some expensive Cartiers or Omegas. Is that typical of ladies watches? I was surprised. The watch geek in me wants to get her an automatic, but I'm not sure she'll care about that as much as we all would.

Thanks for any and all suggestions. As a newbie here, I've learned a great deal from this forums, and appreciate the help.

I bought my wife a Breitling cockpit lady with MOP dial and it has 11 diamonds on the dial as well. She loves it.
It does seem most of the ladies watches are quartz models. My wife loves her watch and uses it well (doesn't baby it) and she really doesn't want to think about winding or what movement it has... Believe me I have tried to educate her :0)
    Cheers,
    Christopher

When I was in your situation I let my wife pick and then made sure she bought the automatic.

She liked nothing that I would have bought for her and she does not care about auto vs. quartz so we both win.

Have you looked into Michele yet? They have a decent line-up of ladies watches.
