    Sundials anyone?

I've done a lot of research on the history of timekeeping in the last few months. It is amazing to me how mankind has progressed from simple sundials, to water clocks, hourglasses, pendulum clocks, etc. The interesting thing is that until roughly the 1700s sundials were more accurate than clocks. Do any of you guys have sundials in your backyards? Or on your wrists?

I thought this thread was about Panerai . . .

No sundials, but hourglasses as decoration.

An interesting book on the subject of timekeeping is Daniel Boorstein's The Discoverers; The Discoverers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He starts from the first sky watchers to lunar calendars to Chinese water clocks to the first clock makers. Interesting stuff. Another bit of trivia was that clock making technology led to the development of mass production machinery that kicked off the Industrial Revolution.
