Sunray / Sunburst / Satin: which dial finish is which: everyone seems to call differently

I am hoping that Dennis has one of his WUS_101 articles on that, but alas, could not find it myself.

Lately I seem to be fixed on tracking me a proper dress watch. Hypnotized by the Zenith silver dial, I tried to lookup other "sunray" dials. But then noticed basically each seller/maker/AD has a different view as to which is which and they randomly call them identical things differently.

So, short and sweet, can you show me which dial is which?

    Thanks!

Re: Sunray / Sunburs / Satin... which dial finish is which: everyone seems to call differe

I'd say the term "sunburst" is the catchiest, and hence most often used to describe that kind of dial.

I agree :) Can you put a picture of what sunburst is and, consequently, what "satin" is? If, at all, there is a difference of course

Is this a satin or sunburst dial:

Mind you, all these are listed as "sunburst"...

    Facepalm... Geez...

How am I supposed to find something that looks like my El Grailo:

I know, now you're gonna tell me this is satin with sunburst and sunray inserted...

    Thanks, Vi
