I assume it's not an unusual practice to exchange your watch for the one in the wrist of your fellow WIS...
Personally, I've never done that.
But I've recently found a Facebook group of 'horological people' in my city and a proposal came up...
I politely ask you to help me decide:
I've a Mido Multifort and the other guy has a Bulova Accutron Kirkwood (automatic).
He suggested to swap them.
His watch retails new for like 1000-1100 usd and mine for about 650-750 usd.
So I'm on the winning side here.
I do like his watch, but I don't really get why it reaches that pricing (movement is a SW200, steel, etc.), since I haven't seen so much love for Bulova among enthusiasts (I do know their fans exist, but I guess this one is not generally regarded as a 'truly' reputable brand (?))
It's the price of the Bulova what attracts me on this proposed deal. But, as you already noticed, I've second thoughts about the watch... and brand (maybe I'm prejudicing it because of the Citizen ownership and I guess they are not really making 'Swiss watches' (?), but Mido maybe isn't too, so...).
I like my Multifort, and I wouldn't like to end swapping it for a piece that doesn't entirely convinces me.
But maybe its upper price ends up being decisive in moving me for the 'yes'.
What do you think?
