Wink Swatch Irony - HEQ accuracy !

    Hi,everyone
I've been reading the forum for a long time but found
time to register only today.I wanted to share my experience
with one of my watches - Swatch Irony which for the last 2
months I've owned it has gained exactly 2 sec.!!!
That's a HEQ accuracy from a very not HEQ watch.
I was wondering if any of you have experienced anything like this
with a Swatch quartz watch or I got a very lucky one.
    Happy holidays guys

Yes,I also have the Citizen Nighthawk eco-drive and it's running 6 sec fast per month
which is also very good, but not that good as the Swatch. And it's 3 times as expensive and better
built as well. But not as accurate as it turns out.Not that I'm disappointed with my |Citizen(i love it)
just the Swatch's accuracy is surprising .

Any quartz watch has variation in time keeping ability based on the environmental temperature of the watch.

Every quartz watch has a temperature at which it will show almost no error.

If the environmental temperature of the watch is near the zero error temperature, the watch will show little error.

Some quartz movements can have their zero error temperature adjusted. Most can't. For those, some percentage will still find themselves living at their zero error temperature... but it is just luck if you have one..... and don't change it's temperature much by doing things like wearing or not wearing it.
"Forever is composed of nows." - Emily Dickinson

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

I've been thinking of buying a Swatch....just out of curiosity, since they carry a wide range of multiple models, which specific Swatch Irony do you have???

Apparently, this is one of their best sellers...
I was also looking at this same watch but I ended up with another Irony - - the "Colour-Dome" with a bigger dial/chronograph. Good luck with your *YCS-514*

One of the best things about Swatch is that it's almost impossible to see the same model
as yours on another man's wrist. They are not quite appreciated among watch lovers though.

Well, I finished the year with my last purchase for 2010....
Braving the rain and yucky weather, I happened to swing-by the Swatch store in Palo Alto and noticed they had a year-end sale going on for certain models and walked out of there with a *Irony Colour Dome YOS423* a big chunky watch with a Swiss ETA chrono and decent WR rating. It'll fit the bill as a weekend-outdoor-knock-around watch.....it looks solid and sturdy enough for street hockey and rock climbing

Like you said, it's "not quite appreciated" compared to other watches but I do remember reading several threads here at WUS and other watch forums based in the UK, and most of the feedback/comments have been positive in terms of reliability and keeping good time. Like anything else, some folks don't like their off-beat designs which appeal to a younger demographics....but by the same token, they have a certain cult following among *Swatch* fanatics.
