A bit of a disaster I wore the watch to go to the shops and it just broke away at the lug area!! Watch hit the concrete floor, nasty ding on crystal.
Don't know how common this is, was it left in sunlight or by a hot radiator or it just can happen anyway?

    Re: Swatch Pyrsos

I decided to check out the state of the plastic that broke and pulled off the other strap piece, it was not easy but it did break away with some effort, I then found out I could use a thumbnail to cut and pull apart the round parts that the strap bar goes through. The plastic had not turned brittle but had gone the other way and turned soft.
Does anyone have some Swatch straps they no longer use or care about? I would be interested in how they have fared over time if you want to test them the same way.

I bought another strap for this watch, but the one of the Swatch "Cigar", if I see a Pyrsos strap at a non-stupid price I may buy a replacement. To the left of the minute hand you can see the worst damage from when it hit the floor. Name: IMAG0667-1.jpg

Update: I recently saw a Pyrsos strap for sale and bought it, it was also soft. None of my other Swatch straps are soft, so with the Pyrsos if you are buying be aware!

To add to this I bought a Chrysophoros (NOS) as a birthday present for my mom and the strap broke away around an hour after she started wearing it.

I have been thinking about picking up one of these or similar. These really aren't my style, but I am a huge olympics fan. I could see myself wearing it every two years when the games are on.

That stinks about the strap though. I guess it happens with age. It kind of makes me think if I would get one, just immediately replace it with leather so the one it came with won't break.

    Good looking watch though.

    Thanks.

The "Cigar" strap is fine, and they came out 18 years ago. I only intended it to be temporary until I (probably) got another Pyrsos, otherwise I would have got leather.
