IIRC Swatch is far from alone in this. Rolex is well known for doing this.

Rolex is the first to come to mind for me as well.

I'm sure all of the retailers are all for not giving discounts as well! After all, who wants to give away profit margin to their customers, I know I don't. This will probably always be a problem, no way around it that I see. Or at least one that all of the persons involved will agree to.

Exactly, this isn't just a Swatch issue, it's an issue across the whole spectrum IMO. Just so happen to have a Swatch ex-boss come out and say it first. I'd be interested to see where this goes from here.

It may even go deeper than that. I remember when Bailey Banks and Biddle was closing out the stores earlier this year. Everything else was over 50% or more off, but for some reason 15% was the max off on the Omega products. You would think at that point name your price would work, but that was not the case.

My hunch is Breitling has similar practices.

My wife buys dogs and I buy watches and to date I have never stepped in watch poop!

What's interesting is that at least in the US, Omega's can be had at pretty substantial discounts through AD's. I also understand that if a dealer buys enough inventory there is an additional discount from Swatch.

If it's Omega's goal to become more exclusive through higher quality products and Rolex like discount policies, it's going to be hard to overcome this past practice.

    Thanks, Mike.

rolex, cartier, panerai are worse "offenders" than swatch imo.
