    Swiss Army battery change

Hey all, I just purchased a Victorinox Swiss Army Original watch today, and after reading on their website I noticed they suggested sending the watch off to one of their approved dealers to get the battery changed and not taking it to a jeweler. Jared's said they can't do it due to not having some pressurizing machine. My question is that is it okay to take it to somewhere like http://www.precisiontimeco.com/ who says they change batteries on Swiss Army and Luminox? I think I have the snap back case on mine. Thanks in advance.

No, if the battery goes out during the warranty period, it must be sent
back to the maker or the warranty will be voided.

Alright, I guess after the 3 years is up then it's free game? Maybe I can get 3 years out of this battery.

Mine had to go back to an authorised service provider for a battery replacement. A lttle annoying but acceptable because it's good service for an Omega quality timepiece for a fraction of the cost. Victorinox really stands behind their products.

I understand, I called the authorized dealer here in Texas and he said he sends them back the following Monday so it really isn't too long of a wait or inconvience for the added security.

Depends on how long your timepiece was sitting around before you
    acquired it.

I must have missed the memo! When was it decided that the Victorinox watches were of "Omega quality"?

I decided, been around watches for a very long time and I've been evaluating them for just as long. Fit & finish are the same for both as far as I'm concerned, materials are of the same quality, attention to detail is just the same if not better on Victorinox's side, after sale service top notch and percieved recognition by the public as being a real nice watch helps too.

Omega makes nice stuff but because of it's name it's pricing is inflated. Went to buy an Omega SMP about 2 months ago and the quality just wasn't there for me and the attention to detail by the Company wasn't there either. This is after evaluating 3 indentical SMPs. I ended up selecting a Tissot piece instead.

Swiss Army ! What's Swiss Army...
Any remaining confusion about the relationship between Swiss Army and Victorinox will soon be a thing of the past. Beginning in the second half of the year, “Swiss Army” brand timepieces will be branded “Victorinox Swiss Army”; the new logo will appear on watch dials, packaging and all brand identification.

Great news. I had no idea! I hope that is not the result of diminishing quality on Omegas part. I love it when I hear of a brand that is making quality products at reasonable pricing. Omega used to be a better value, but their recent price increases were inevitable, I guess. I recently discovered Louis Bolle. It's Chinese & parts are sourced from several quality mfg. I purchased one & it is flawless & I like the unique design. Kinda dodgy marketing, but the product it very nice.
