    TAG advise

My mate is keen on purchasing a TAG watch.

    Particularly this model:

    WJF211A.BA0570

    http://www.prestigetime.com/item.php?item_id=6233

I am struggling to find any reviews or comments on it especially wrt the calbre 6 movement.

    Anybody any thoughts?

is the link a good watch?
    is the calibre good?

    looking forward to some comments

Tags are overrated with very rare exceptions

To each their own. I'd post this in the Tag Heuer forum if not already done.

    Re: TAG advise

It uses an ETA 2895-2. Watches with the movement are either high mid-range or belong to the Swatch group. I believe they start at $7-800 MSRP and up. The 289x family of movements are very good movements.

IMHO, the automatic Tags are good buys. Definitely a quality product but you'll probably be paying a little more for the brand name and distinct styling. The quartz Tags, well, those are a different story.

Typically, the quartz models seem overpriced, but that's normal. Their 2824 pieces, while using the higher grade movements, are priced pretty high as well, however, so their value proposition is arguable.

However, I don't particularly see anything wrong with the price points of the 289X pieces -- e.g. the Carrera twin time uses the same 2893 as the Longines equivalent, with a similar price. I think it also looks nicer.

    Re: TAG advise

I was considering buying the Link Calibre 6, b/c I liked having the seconds subdial at 6'o'clock. But I felt the price was a little steep for a Tag Heuer.

    Re: TAG advise

Lot of people posting about Tag vs value/money, the question was how is the movement not is Tag worth the money. It is a solid movement as some have mentioned and the link series is very popular. Post of in Tag and you will probably get more concrete answers.
Better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done...
