I'm sorry, but this image of a past memory just popped into my head, while reading a thread here and I thought it might make some of you laugh.
I dropped into a friends house one day, many years ago when I was in my early twenties. I had only recently bought a new gold plated quartz Citizen, which back in those days wans't a bad watch. It wasn't overly expensive, but I bought it because it was very thin and had a nice face with roman numerals. Anyway, once at the friends house, one of his best friends wives, who we all knew was very, very wealthy, noticed mine on my wrist and asked if she could see it. When I gave it to her, the first thing she did was tap the crystal to see if it wasn't synthetic (I know I'm using the wrong word here, polycarbonate maybe?)
I knew this wasn't the kind of brand she would wear, but I didn't expect to see this sort of action from her. Now wouldn't that just annoy the crap out of you? And you know what, I didn't say a thing. I just let her do it, just to satisfy her curiosity that yes, it was a real watch. Has anyone had this happen to them? I just had to share this story with all you folk. Sorry if it doesn't make you laugh though
