Thinking about going from 30+ to 3

I'm seriously thinking about trimming my watch collection down from 30+ to 3.

    The three would be:
    • Rolex Milgauss - My favorite business casual and dressy sport watch.
    • DOXA Sub 300 professional 50th anniversary - My everyday diver, pretty much perfect for everything sporty.
    • Casio GW5000 1JF - Beater with a pedigree.

I'm guessing I could end up pocketing $25k to $30k or so from selling the rest of the collection and use that money for... something.

These three get 90% of the wrist time as it is.

Hell yes. Do it. If you can pocket that much money and don't use the rest of the collection, it's a no-brainer. And get a cheapie Orient Bambino to round it off and you're all set - forever :)

    good call! do it!
i have many many memory with many watches, but the only one that is worthy is my all time favorite - the Tudor Submariner 79090.

Sounds like it makes a lot of sense for you. I'd say go for it!

Personally, if the Milgauss had a date then it would surely be my sole timepiece—
    ..except for maybe a Speedmaster.
..and a couple of Seikos (for mowing the lawn, working on the car, etc.)

    ..and and and annnnnd!!

Less is more. (and the Milgauss is all I would need)

That is a no brainer for me, absolutely! I've found myself in the same type situation, always wearing the same few watches. I thinned my collection down to like 5, core pieces . I wear my Seiko MM300 SBDX017 all the time (its currently at IWW getting regulated and its killing me not having it). I rotate in an Omega Planet Ocean and a Bond wave dial in there, topped off with my Gshock Rangeman, and that's like 90% of the wrist time for me. You know which watches you wear regularly and the rest are just taking up space in your wallet!

And far less to explain to your significant (or insignificant) other.
    Less cognitive dissonance.

See my signature for the Cliff's Notes.
    UN Maxi-Marine
    Zenith Type 20 bronze
    Tudor Black Bay black ETA
    Tudor Ranger
    Tudor "Monte Carlo" chrono
    Rolex Air-King
    Rolex no date Sub
    Breitling Superocean
    Cuervo Y Sobrinos Historiador Vuelo
    Eterna Kon-Tiki
    Omega Aqua Terra
    3 different Sinn U1's
Those are the core of my collection.
I also have 3 or 4 Ball watches, a few more Sinns and then some lower end (sub-$1k) stuff.

Easily $30k worth even in this rather soft market, especially since I don't really need to sell anything.
