Thoughts about UN Maxi Marine Diver

I'm looking for a cheaper alternative for my Rolex Sub-C, which just got serviced recently.

After a failed attempt of purchasing a Longines Legend Diver at a local mall boutique (lugs were too long), I skimmed through the internet, and found an interesting timepiece.

What do you guys think about the Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver?

I did try on an Omega Seamaster a few days ago, but it just didn't 'sing' to me.
Also tried on a Tag Heuer Aquaracer, which felt quite cheap to me.

I am particularly interested with the model pictured above.

That's so loud I think I need earplugs to look at it. If it works for you go for it.

I do like these watches and think they have an iconic design. If I bought a maxi marine watch I would either get a new model with the UN-118 movement or a Burgundy diver, though that is personal preference.

Good looking casual watch and a great complement to your sub-c.

I echo the sentiments that the design is rather loud but if that is what you are after, I think it isn't a bad choice and that dial looks great in person.

The model you posted is one of the 45mm titanium-cased ones. I have one of the regular Maxi's , the 43mm with steel case, so I can't speak to the fit of the 45mm one, but the watch does have pretty short lugs and might wear a bit smaller than what you'd expect for 45mm.

Yeah, if I was after a brand new one I'd wait for one with the new inhouse movement

    Totally unbiased pros/cons list
    Pros:
-Great fit/finish on the dial and case. Have not yet found anything wrong with it
    -Double AR-coated sapphire crystal.
    -Really good lume
-Keeps great time, hands line up well as does the date wheel.
-Sweetass titanium links on the vanilla-scented rubber strap
-Has a number on the side of the case which makes you feel super special every time you see it

    Cons:
-Might be too sexy for some to handle
-May cause spontaneous urges to move to the coast and wear all white
-Polished case is a fingerprint magnet

I love the UN MMD's however I prefer the solid color bezels. They come in two sizes so you should have an easy time finding the right one for your wrist. At the very least, request a UN catalog so you can ooh and awe over it. My last catalog even came with a DVD with some watch making goodness.

In my opinion, like many UN, it's somewhat weird looking, and (I think) overpriced for what it is (ETA?). However, I'd definitely take one if it were gifted to me...

If you liked the vintage look of the Legend Diver, what about the vintage look of the Tudor Black Bay? And the price is more palatable for ETA.

The news with the in-house caliber 118 are great but aren't cheaper than the SubC
