Thoughts on the Sinn 556 I?

I'd like to know your opinion on this watch:

    Sinn 556 I on Bracelet - WatchBuys

I'm thinking of ordering it but I'm still not really convinced about the brushed steel (prone to scratch) and flat crystal?

    Any thoughts or experiences?

I have a 256 and its brushed finish is still unmarked after nearly 10 years. I think the 556 has more of a satin finish but I'm not aware of any durability issues.
Re the crystal, I guess you either like flat crystals or you don't. But the double AR coating is very good. You'll barely notice the crystal.

ps..you will find plenty of owners in the Sinn forum willing to answer any questions.

Brushed finishes are one of the easiest to restore. The watch is on the thin and unobtrusive side, so it's not really a scratch magnet. I had a 556. Great llittle watch.

That is an awesome looking watch, but if I were to buy a Sinn it would have to have the hardened finish. For the same $ you could get the Damasko.

I've been looking at that watch myself. I like its design, simplicity and elegance. For that price range the Sinn 556i is one of the best watch one can get. It's anti-magnetic. The brush case and bracelet are really nice.

I'm kind of an oaf with my watches so the clasp is pretty scuffed up. Besides that though it's in tip top shape I would say. A couple small scratches on the bracelet, but very light. The case is flawless. Overall it is very durable. Chesthing is right that you can get a damasko with a hardened case for around the same price but they don't make a bracelet so that would rule it out for me personally.

I need a nice allround piece that will suit all situations, the damasko is a bit too sporty for my taste... What is your wrist size if I may ask?
