    Three Chronographs (Follow-up Posting)

    Hi,

Last week I was trying to decide between some GMT watch options and some chronograph options. Since posting, I have decided that I would prefer a chronograph at this time over a GMT watch.

That being said, I have identified 3 models that interest me from Chronoswiss, Panerai and Breguet (see below). They each have their pros and cons. I have tried to outline my assessment of these to the right of each image. I am attracted to each for differing reasons and have some concerns about each.

The exclusive vs. reworked ETA thing is interesting to some extent but, I appreciate a movement that hacks and is robust like a Valjoux. I also appreciate the thinness that the Lemania allows over the ETA based models. The Chonoswiss and PAM are more distinct and sportier look from my current crop and likely have superior lume over the Breguet.

My collection is shown in my signature. My IWC and Blancpain are my sport/casual watches and my Chronoswiss, GO and JLC are my casual/dress watches. I think another dark dial would be welcomed. I also think something sporty, with decent lume and adequate WR for swimming is what I want. The price point differences are not great enough between the pieces to let that influence things.

Are there other things to consider when deciding between them? I of course will make my own decision in the end, but I truly appreciate folks taking the time to chime in.

    Bob

    Chronoswiss

    Panerai

    Breguet

The Panerai. You seem to have a Chronoswiss already...and the Chronoswiss that's one of your choices would have been my first choice were it not for the crown. That's too big...I'm sorry but the crown just kills the watch completely.

Besides...most of your collection are round cases...the pillow case of the Panerai would be a nice change.

The Breguet ... it has a strong historic military connection, and the movement is a reliable and proven one. Very legible chrono with a simple classic design, can't go wrong with it!

Yep, Breguet. That Chronoswiss crown reminds me of Jiffy Pop. The Panerai is very nice, but the brand is getting more and more common. Breguet is in a class of its own.

Take it from me, you get used to non-hack movements. Especially if you collect vintages ... or El Primeros

That's one of the few Panerai I don't find atrocious, but that Breguet is just classy as **** (big compliment from me).

The Breguet is very close to the PAM for me, but I would have to side with the Pam, just on appearence alone. Very tuff choice.
