Timing with the rolex gmt master II ceramic bezel

Does anybody have a rolex gmt ceramic and use it to time thing like you would with a diving bezel? Is it still useful for this considering there are much less clicks, I am looking at the gmt and want to know if I would regret getting one over the sub for this feature alone.

The GMT is far superior to the sub IMO. You do not see them everywhere and the bezel looks more interesting. Plus, you get the GMT hand.

Use your phone to time things if you are really concerned.

I time things with my GMT by looking at my watch, remembering the time, and looking at it again when I am done with said activity.

Yeah well you can use your phone for all time checking.

I think it is an interesting point, if 2 timezones are enough then a diver style bezel for timing would be a good complement to a gmt watch.

Let's be real here... unless the OP is planning on using the Sub as a dive watch, he is buying more for fashion reasons, in which case he should choose which looks better.

In terms of timing with the GMT bezel, take the 24 markers, divide by 60, and you get how many minutes each marker represents. Not too difficult...

While wearing the sub, how often would you time something?

Buy the one that you think looks better or speaks to you more. Don't obsess about things that have little practical application.

My GmtIIc bezel will sit on any minute I would like. Sure it clicks on hours but the bezel can easily be placed on any marker without fear of it moving unintentionally during normal activities like grilling or timing your tea steep.

    All good points

Btw I use a diving bezel often in the kitchen !

I would myself go for a gmt watch because I travel a lot. Unfortunately I sometimes have to go to india and nepal where timezones are off with 30 and 15 minutes, I am not aware of a mechanical gmt watch with 15 minute granularity.

Take a look at the Glycine Airman. It allows the bezel to be placed and locked anywhere you would like. It comes in 3 hand or 4.

Re: Timing with the rolex gmt master II ceramic bezel

I've been pondering this myself and figured worst case scenario if I were to use one and couldn't get it to lineup with the time, I could merely round to the nearest click, which are only 2.5 minutes apart, so it wouldn't be much of a compromise and I prefer to be a bit early anyway.

As a previous comment stated, the GMT-IIc bezel will sit between 'clicks'. I commonly use my BLNR as a timing mechanism when grilling and find that the 2.5 minute interval is close enough for my needs.

I use diver timing bezels to time my son's soccer games and it is very handy for this purpose.
