    Tissot Seastar vs. anything else?

    Hello fellow wristwatch wearers. :)

I am planning to buy myself a new timepiece since I had my birthday pass by last week so I thought I'd treat myself.

I was wondering about in shops and online and I landed on a Tissot Seastar, loved the looks of it and after tried to put it on absolutely fell in love with it!

Didn't make a rush move though, I thought I might consult with someone into watches, is it a good timepiece and if there are any substitutes for that price range of ~650 USD?

    Thanks in advance!

The Tissot Seastar is a solid value dive watch. Something that's similar in terms of style and value for the dollar is the Mido Ocean Star Captain IV. or the Mido All Dial Helium Valve diver. Both are great looking dive watches that won't break the bank. Mido, like Tissot, is part of the Swatch group, so you're getting a good value, workhorse watch. The blue dial Ocean Star Captain IV is a real stunner, IMO.

The Tissot is nice, I used to have one. May also consider:

    Chris Ward C60
    Used Oris Diver
    Longines Hydroconquest
    Hamilton

Check out a few other pieces, but if you find yourself still thinking about the seastar then get that!

You are not that far from a Longines Hydroconquest price-wise. I would consider that.

Actually out of all these watches the Paul Picot Type C is better. $1300 on street, was $4000. Quality is of course superior.

I like the Tissot - got my first one in 1871 and still have it!
Certina DS Action Diver is nice too.
    Or the Mido's mentioned above.
