Total Watch Newbie Needs Your Help

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to watches. In fact, I've never owned a "nice" watch in my life.

I've been browsing through a bunch of watches and the two that appeal to me most (at my price range) are (in alphabetical order):

Color, bracelet style, and lack of a stopwatch on the Citizen aside, which of these watches would you recommend to a newbie like me?
I realize that this might seem like I'm trying to compare apples with oranges, but which watch is of "higher quality", so to speak?

    Your advice is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Citizen but I suggest you also consider the Citizen AT0660-56E, AT0840-03E, and BL5250-02L models
Those models are comparable to the Tissot.

Those are fantastic suggestions. You've just made my choice that much harder.

Both are quality pieces and look great, but to me, the Tissot looks a little "cleaner" so that one is my pick.

The Tissot has sapphire glass, but it also is quite small (only 38.6mm) according to that site. There are versions of the Citizen with sapphire too, but not that one.

Anyway, having linked my pic of my Citizen I could not recommend the Tissot, could I?
