    Tourbillion

Hello everyone. I'm new to the watch work so please dont judge me but why are tourbillion watches so expensive??? You see a luxury swiss watch that goes for 10k but the same brand but tourbillion goes for well over 100k. I dont get it? I've actually seen some watches that go for +300k as well.

Very complicated watches, lots of parts....That's it, plain and simple.
You can get a Chinese one for under $1K.

As stated above a tourbillon is very complicated. Just looking at some of the images on wikipedia, suggests that it is just as much art form as it science, and it is priced to reflect an appreciation for the art (and some may say a show of wealth) rather than the need for precision time keeping (although the tourbillon adds several degrees of accuracy compared to a standard mechanical watch movement).

A good quality attractive single axis tourbillon can be found for well under $1k from China. Many of the pricier ones are multiple axis and are very complicated to manufacture and set up. Design and finishing at those prices is of course exceptional. No matter the price a tourbillon is something to be enjoyed both for it's small part in horological history 200 years ago and the fascinating motion of the complicated mechanism going about it's business. Although they are no more accurate than much less expensive watches they are rarely bought for their performance.

Not necessarily. Unlike government tax or fuel duty, this is a luxury product that you might consider if you have the means
to pay for it, as you would with say a Rolls Royce. It is optional and there are plenty of ways to find a good said watch at the correct budget.

And as has been said before there are respectable Chinese tourbillion that can be purchased for below $1k.
