Trench watch serial numbers on case and mechanism

    Hello

Hope someone out there can help and advise

do the serial numbers on the silver case and the mechanism of a 1914 trench watch mean anything specific and can they be used to trace the manufacturer, country of origin, or even the officer that the watch was issued to?

    thank you

Case serial numbers usually mean nothing. The serial number on the movement may or may not be helpful.
