Yay for nerds, otherwise we would never have gotten into space.
"I am, and ever will be, a white-socks, pocket-protector, nerdy engineer, born under the second law of thermodynamics, steeped in steam tables, in love with free-body diagrams, transformed by Laplace and propelled by compressible flow."
To those of you, like me, who are old enough to remember the excitement of the 'space race', and to those who have only heard about it, this HBO mini-series from 1998 is a gem. I've watched it countless times on DVD. If you haven't seen it, I recommend you pick it up. It's sad that these heroes, who risked their lives for their country rather than fame, are slowly leaving us.
Vale Neil Armstrong - gone, but will never be forgotten in the history of mankind. Wearing my cal. 321 Speedmaster this week in honour of one of the greatest explorers ever.
