Undone Urban Custom Chrono - Great Customer Service & Review

    Hi all!

I got my Undone Custom Chronograph about a month ago and I love it. Kinda.
The watch is great. It is EXACTLY what I ordered, so I finally have a black watch.
I got it with the red leather strap, and just got in an all-black leather strap with deployment too, so I switch back and forth now.

My experience with their customer service was awesome!
So awesome it begs the WHOLE story.

So, fellow WIS'ers get a drink, this is kind of a long story.

About a year ago I discovered Undone and spent a couple, (three, maybe four) days going thru their customizer, only to notice that the chronographs with tachymeter had no date! If you have a chrono then you've gotta have a tach, right? And a watch has to have a date. So I emailed them. I got a nice reply from James Wong that they didn't have that option, but would look into it.

Lo and behold! I revisited them last fall (about Sept 2017) and they had added one more chrono face with both tach and date! Now it was time to spend a few weeks convincing my better half I needed a new watch for my birthday. Then about Thanksgiving I got a great newsletter deal for a watch and set out customizing one for myself. It's my all black "Spawn Till You Die" watch.

Then trouble #1 reared it's ugly head with my bank refusing the transaction because it was overseas. the order was frozen with no way to restart it. I could not complete it nor could I use the coupon again. RATS! Then I emailed them again, only to get James Wong again! He believed me and I got another coupon and this time my custom order went right thru!
Admittedly it took a few days for the emails to go each way, but my questions were read, and responded to by a person, not a form letter.

Then I got it! Awesome watch, EXACTLY as I ordered.

Then trouble #2 arose, and this one was my fault. I put the IP Blue hands on a black dialed watch. :( They were too dark and hard to see. totally my bad. I was torn between the yellow hands and the blue, and in the end the blue just looked soooo good..... Ohh well. i emailed them again (James Wong, from an earlier email) and asked if I could just buy a set of yellow hands, letting my local watchmaker put them on?!?!?
SURE ENOUGH I COULD! Within a week I was directly passed to Jay in Customer service who hooked me up.

So I have nothing but good to say about Undone and their customer service. They read and answered my emails. Were prompt and courteous and accommodated my unusual (?) request and helped me solve my problems. When I am in the market for a dive watch I'll be building one with them!

All that's left for me is to get the watch's hands changed. (I'll update y'all when I do)
    Thanks for reading!

Nice write up but it needs better photos.

Ive liked their stuff and looked and played with the customiser on several occasions (similar to you the first one was for days) however never followed through with the purchase.

    Gunnar,

You are right. I need to do less-blurry photos. I'll try in the next few days.

The urban chronos do punch above their pricerange, for sure. The fact that they allow for handset swaps etc. is a boon, esp. if you happen upon a good combination. I do hope that they start including their fume-faded dials in the customized, though - would love to pick up a faded-dial with some of the other handsets.

    Mine say "hi".

Nor me - yet. I rarely buy anything much these days, but have a Speedy-alike that's gnawing away though and I may weaken sometime soon. Good to know they're on the ball, so thanks to the OP for the review.

Ok, I'm back. Finally got a chance to get the hands changed.

And now this thing is even MORE unique than any ordered from Undone.
With the change of color I only changed the hour minute, and running seconds. I left the chrono minutes in the IP Blue hand. It looks great and works against the multi-color 60 minute sub-register.

Oh yeah.. And a nice black Chr Ward black strap to make some black on black wrist presence.

    Whadda ya think?
