    UNIFORM WARES - Health Warning!

I purchased a Uniform Wares 302 series watch in October 2012 - it's a really nice-looking watch, and I was pleased with it.

Within six months the loop came of the strap, within 12 months the second hand dropped off, within 18 months four more pieces had fallen off the dial.

Despite being in warranty I have been told that this is "accidental damage" and not covered - it will cost £127.

I'm really disappointed, and certainly can't recommend either their workmanship or their customer care.

I wonder if anyone else has similar, or better, tales?

Sorry to hear your problems...This is exactly why I suggest to people to only buy
from established (name brand)watch companies. Thanks for posting your story,
you may help someone else from making that mistake.

one tends to get what one pays for generally ! but even so that shouldn't happen even to an economy watch so to speak

Where does the health part come in? I was waiting for trans-dermal heavy metal poisoning, or something similar, to be mentioned.

Yeah, I'm confused about the health warning too. Is this is microbrand? You can't expect to have Seiko or Rolex quality control with a microbrand.

No. A company with the revenue of Seiko or Rolex will spend more on quality control than a few years' worth of total cash that a microbrand will have. Whether you perceive a difference is another factor. But they will have more lemons as a percentage. Just like you can't expect a microbrand to spend as much on R&D as a Seiko or Rolex.

Reproducibility and accuracy go up with volume. Unless the company chooses not to.

Maybe the watch had ricin or anthrax in it, that could explain the price :)
