    Ups and customs

Purchased a watch from a private seller Monday. It was sent Tuesday coming from the uk to America. Initially it said delivery Thursday but I woke this morning and the eta is gone and says, “The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release.” Anyone have experience with this?

An international private seller purchase? Very little chance the seller completed all, or any, of the paperwork Customs requires to make this a smooth transaction.

Yep, have had this happen with a private seller. As "squinter" said, few private sellers ship with all of the proper paperwork to breeze through customs. However, if it was from a dealer (or someone very familiar with shipping from UK to US), it may just be the normal notice, because everything has to clear when it hits the US. If any information or docs are missing, UPS will send you a notification (or call you if the seller listed your phone # on the label). Give it a day or 2 and you'll have the answer.

I’ve been through this “joyful” experience before. UPS will likely deliver a letter to you shortly with contact info for an agent and whatever forms are lacking.

Never bought from private overseas sellers, but have bought from dealers and even then, the tracking chain makes a stop at customs while the shipment waits to be cleared. Even with all of the paperwork I've had it take a day or two to get out of customs.

+1. It is a fun time.......

Hopefully just a small glitch and you will get it sooner than later, but this is part of the game if you buy outside your country.
