URGENT!!! Watch for Dad ...Roman numbers and leather strap.

Hi All,

Glad I found this forum. My dad's birthday is coming up next week and I want to get him a watch. Here are his preferences :

1. Roman numerical ( I, II, III, IV,...) . Please note the IV there are lots of watches out there with IIII for representing 4 which is not what he wants. He wants it to be IV.
2. Budget : below $ 500 USD
3. Prefers Swiss ..worst case, any other good brand.
4. Oh and yeah, white dial with a leather strap !! NO METAL please.

Can someone help me pick me out a watch for him. PLeaseee!!

Tissot maybe, or Hamilton. Don't worry too much about a bracelet as you can always swap out for a strap and have the bracelet for a change of pace.

The only issue is that it's not a Swiss brand, even though it's Swiss made. Although I second the suggestion. Watches with an incorrect #4 will be relatively hard to find.

I think the preference for IV over IIII will be the the biggest limitation here: IIII is by far the more widely used of the two.

As rfortson said, don't worry about whether the watch comes on a strap or a bracelet: high quality straps can be had for not a lot of money, and swapping the bracelet out for a strap is very easy.

In that price range I can't think of anything that uses IV instead of IIII. It's the traditional way to do it since it balances out VIII. Actually, now I think of it, I can't think of a single watch in any price range with IV on the dial. If he's willing to compromise, I'd suggest the Tissot Carson Powermatic 80:

I second the suggestion of the Tissot T-Classic Carson Powermatic 80.

Another possibility is the Frederique Constant FC-303, but again it has the traditional IIII on the dial.
