Vibration per hour - the more the better?

    Hi,
What is the main difference between, say, 21600/h and 28800/h movements? Why in some hi-end watches do they use lower vibration? Does it have something to do with accuracy. If not what then?
    Thank you.

If accuracy depended solely on the bph of the escapement, everyone would use higher rates. There is waaaay more to it than that, and so many things involved that can affect the timekeeping ability of a watch that it would take hours to touch on the basics. Here's the same link I give for anyone that wants to learn about the internals of a mechanical watch:

Here's a couple links related to accuracy & beats per hour from the same series:

    http://www.watchtalkforums.info/foru...ad.php?t=27407

The last link above was written by a watchmaker. Some of the others in the main link (particularly the FAQ on quartz) were written by an engineer. The others are written by some jerk I know.
