    Victorinox officers silver versus black dial

    I used to have a Victorinox quartz watch when I was in college in Seattle in the early 90's. I bought it at the Victorinox AD at the Pike Market. At the time $130 was a lot of money to me and I loved it since it was my first Swiss made watch. I wore it for all my college years, and when the strap broke, I replaced it with a Eddie Bauer Leather strap and wore it for several more years. I finally got tired of the watch and when the battery died one day I didn't bother to replace the battery and sold it on eBay for $30. Now I'm looking at this automatic Victorinox officer's watch with date and I am trying to decide between the two different dial colors - black versus silver.

    I'm always intrigued by these posts, are you saying if most people on this forum say black, that's what you'll buy? Functionally there are advantages and disadvantages to both dials that tend to even out with neither one being superior to the other.

    Bottom line pick the one You like, I'm guessing it's the black dial, you just sold the white dial you owned because you were bored with it.

    It's always BLACK.....Better contrast.

    The way I decided was to screen capture both pics and put them in my
    Phone. Then I reviewed them when I had a free minute and after a week I had a much more clear picture what appealed to me. Then I started taking screen captures of every watch fact I could find with that type of face and reviewed them. After another week I was able to select a face that really appealed to me and I could better explain why I liked it.

    You have a nice watch there. It would do fine with rather face. Just depends on what you want to look at.

    I have the silver and love it. I used to have the black with the same dial but with day and date. The texture wasn't nearly as obvious on the black dial version. As you can guess, I prefer the silver. One of the nice features is the blue second hand, which is much more obvious on the silver dial version.

    Was all set to vote black (from ad) but gotta go silver with cc's pic (dunno, maybe the actual black dial is as nice) . . .

    I think both are awesome, but I'd personally choose the black one as I think the silver one may be too "flashy" under the sunlight.

    Naive logic -
    Dressy watches -> white dial
    Sport watches -> black dial

    So silver in this case.

    Surprisingly, it's not as "mirrory" as you'd think.
