Wanting to get a cheaper quality diver.

My choices are any of the Seiko SRP or SKX series divers. Does anyone have a preference for either style?

    First, welcome aboard!

I wouldn't necessarily characterize this as a "cheaper quality" as I'm not quite sure what you are comparing them too; not to mention that cheaper price does not always equate to cheaper quality. Seiko generally has very decent quality. I'm sure everyone has a preference. For me it would probably be SKX but I like them both. Good luck and keep us posted.

either is a good choice. Dont think price dictates quality.

I've been very tempted to pick up an SKX007 myself.

if you want to look at a different brand, the Victorinox Dive master (42mm, 500M, sapphire) is on sale on woot and other websites for <285 bucks....

Solid choices. Think the SKX007 (and its variants) are a "must have" for any dive watch enthusiast. Like the newer SRP watches, too. Can't go wrong, really, but I guess I'd also lean towards the SKX.

IF I were to by a reasonably priced diver, I like this Seiko SSC017 - I gotta have a chronograph! My local Costco has them at very tempting price!

I like my SKX007 so much I ordered a SKX009 so it would not be lonely( lonely watches can be a big problem). you might want to look at Orient as well the Ray and the Mako are quite popular

    Agreed.
I like the 007. That said, I prefer the looks of the Orients, and my experience with them has been fantastic.
