    Warranty Cards

This has likely been asked and answered, but a search didn't bring it up for me.

My question: To be honored by the OEM or an AD for service, doesn't a Warranty Card have to be stamped by an AD with the Purchase Date listed? Or to put it another way, is a blank warranty card of any real value, especially when the purchase is from an individual or non-AD jewelry shop?

    Unstamped warranty cards are useless.

Yes it needs to be stamped and dated. I never understood why people advertise blank warranty card like it's a positive. To me a completely blank one is the same thing as no card. Sometimes a card will have a dealer stamp and signed card with no date entered. So in theory someone can write in an arbitrary date there.

Thanks for confirming! I thought the same, but seeing individuals advertise "blank warranty card included" made me question my understanding. Also, a non-AD jeweler saying that they buy only from AD's and provide the warranty card provided by the AD.... If it's not stamped with the AD's ID info it's of no value and is just another grey market buy.

I can understand that some ADs try to "prolong" your warranty by not dating the card. But they should stamp it, otherwise it seems like nobody will honour the warranty. Imagine the AD outright says that the watch wasn't bought from them since the warranty card isn't stamped

    Re: Warranty Cards

Despite knowing me well enough to call me by my first name my local AD insisted on a stamped warranty card before he would progress a claim I once made.

The non-stamped cards are part of the selling "dog and pony show", but the real stuff has to be stamped.

    Re: Warranty Cards

My Tag warranty card only had the purchase date on it. The first time I sent it in, LVMH requested proof of purchase. I took a photo of my receipt with my phone and that was sufficient. Now the watch is in their system.
I have a couple of watches I bought from Jomashop and they have their own in house service. I haven't used it... I sent my Certina in for service and just paid for it. It was around $150. I love Jomashop, but I think if I go over 1.5K, I will buy from an AD.

I know with Casio, a dated receipt is required, the little card is nothing more than show and part of packaging.

    Re: Warranty Cards

Yes stamped and dated for value to be honored. Often gray market sellers will have warranty cards that are blank. Usually you get a solid deal, but . . . .
