Watch collecting - when it starts?

Dear horophiles, I have a question. So often I see around “watches” point one thing - “what is to be a watch collector”.
Explain me, where is a line or moment when you can be named “collector”. Im seriously.
I have way more watches than usual man, as you may predict. But comparing with basic “watch collector”, Im a guy who cleaning floor for pro players. So... Where is it? Physically. As close as possible . Not theoretically.
When you understood - ...., Im in system.
I loved watches many years. But it was like ... “i like icecream”. But later it’s getting in you more and more. And here we go, you already know not just top 20 brands, but you know movements caliber, type of glasses and sort of bezels. But that just start...
Then you can name watch on pictures (but this ends very quickly). You are member on most main forums ( ...., how that’s happened?), your comments become very smart but very snobby.
So, when? When you say - “Oohhh, its now. I finally have Speedmaster or Daydate or rare IWC, so now I is WATCH COLLECTOR”. When? When is happened?
    P. S. My apologies for so many words.

It happens when you start spending your time reading about, researching, thinking and dreaming about watches. Once you’re at that point, you’re a collector, even if you’ve yet to buy your first piece.

It’s not the size or value of the collection, but rather the passion of the collector.

There is no number. A watch collector isn’t determined by the number of watches but their state of mind / level of interest. There are some on here with 3 watches, which may seem very low, but those 3 watches can be the result of years of buying/selling and now they finally got their collection to how they like it. They may only have 3 watches, but they are still collectors.

For me I suppose it was when I stopped having a watch that I got rid of when it stopped working or I got bored with it and replaced it with another, to where I just bought more and kept them.

Suppose you are a car collector if you have to move them around on your driveway to get to the one you want to use for the day!!

Watch collecting is a state of mind. You're a collector when you say you are. The hobby is broad enough to accommodate anything. 1 watch collection, sure. Fashion quartz collection, hot! Exclusively vintage micro rotors, you fly brah. Bunch of watches from all across the spectrum with no real rhythm or reason, that like everyone here.

    I'm not a collector. I'm an enthusiast.

I would say a collecting begins when you have a target or plan in mind - that could be focusing on particular brands, styles, periods, movements or anything really.

I have amassed a jumble of watches during my time.

    We only need one watch.

My father only had one watch. My Grandfather only had one pocket watch. When these broke they got another that was it.

If you have two watches it has started, if you have three you are a collector.

Yes, on reflection this does it for me. I have bought a dozen watches over the years with the only common threads that they are mechanical and that I find them very attractive. All of them are by different manufacturers except three which are of the same brand. I consider myself an enthusiast for watches in general and a collector of that one brand.
