    a watch for dad...under 3k

    Hello guys..
My mother and I have decided to buy my dad a watch. His tag is getting pretty old considering he got it in the 80s.
He's not a big watch person but I plan on changing that.

The watch has to be under $3000 and doesn't have to be new..

Nothing too dressy because it would be more of an everyday watch..

He is 55 years old.. Something that may make him feel cool while he drives his 82 Porsche..lol

    Options.. Omega, IWC, Pam, Breitling...

    Thanks

I honestly think an Omega Speedmaster would go really nicely with a classic Porsche. Not a flashy watch, not terribly large - but it has cool vintage aesthetic to it - classic cool. Plus it comes loaded with history, so even if he doesn't get into watches the way some of us are, he'll definitely appreciate what it is, what it's done, and where it's been.

    That'd be my choice.

I think the Speedmaster is a fine suggestion, but perhaps one of the automatic versions. Your dad might not enjoy having to wind up the watch every couple of days.

Speedmaster, Planet Ocean, or Seamaster are all good options...most def. the Speedmaster if he prefer a "classic style"

Maybe just ask your dad what does he think about certain watch:)
As he drives Porsche I suppose he would like Speedy or PO if WR is necessary

For a couple of hundred over 3k, you can get this beauty -

Wait, since you think he'd prefer sporty, this will be just about perfect -
Seiko Brightz Phoenix (SAGH005) ... integrated column wheel chrono with vertical clutch (as refined as a chrono can be) and well within your budget of $3k (from Seiya), brand new!

Before I even saw the first reply, the Speedy Pro was the first to come to mind.

There are so many more that fit the bill and the price range; take a look at Fortis, a Porsche-design IWC (not my cup of tea, I have to admit) and, staying with the car theme, how about DOXA's Ultraspeed? They have a special pricing at the moment: http://www.doxawatches.com/special_offer.htm

Good luck picking a watch and no matter your choice, I'm sure your Dad will be very happy. After all, it's a gift from his wife and son
