Watch from French Air Postal Service

I saw this over the weekend in Riquewihr, near Colmar, France, and thought I'd share.

They didn't have any further info on the watch, and due to the glass case, I couldn't get any better pictures.
This watch and compass were from an early pilot de l'Aéropostale.

    Thanks for sharing.

Pocket watches with the crown at the base, hung in the cockpits of the first Prussian military aviators.

The watch casings were mostly made out of iron but sometimes out of nickel.

They had been engraved with ‘Eigentum der Fliegertruppen’ (= "Property of the Flying Corps") and on the reverse side with ‘P.u.W.’ and a winged propeller, the movements were of Swiss origin.
